What happens during the first session?

We will explain what therapy is and how it works. You will discuss confidentiality and its limits. We will enter into an agreement for services and obtain your relevant background information. We will then provide you with the recommended treatment and number of sessions you may need.

How long is a session with a Clinical Psychologist?

Sessions are normally 50 minutes. We can arrange longer sessions if required.

Who can refer a patient to therapy ?

Most patients are self-referrals or referred to by another medical practitioner including : GPs, Specialist Consultants and qualified Health Professionals.

Does Buckinghamshire Psychology accept Private Insurance?

Yes. We are registered with leading private insurance groups. Call us to check if we are registered with your provider of choice.

How often will I see my Psychologist?

This depends on the patients treatment, goals and needs. We recommend on average one session per week however certain patients may prefer twice weekly or once a month, depending upon their needs.The number of sessions can be discussed within your initial consultation.

Confidentiality

Everything in therapy is confidential, nothing is discussed without the patient’s consent.

Does Buckinghamshire Psychology discount for special cases?

We can provide payment plans for individuals requiring financial assistance.

What happens if I have to cancel my appointment?

We request that all cancellations are done 48 hours in advance.
If cancellations are made within 48 hours of the appointment , a £50 charge will apply if you cancel within 48 hours.

If you do not attend your appointment without prior cancellation you will be charged the full amount.

What happens if I have to cancel my appointment?

If cancellations are made within 24 hours of the appointment , a £10 charge will apply

Does “talk therapy” work?

There is significant clinical evidence supporting the benefits of talk therapy with a Psychologist. The outcome of therapy is based upon the treatments used along with patient motivation.

Can a Clinical Psychologist help my child?

Clinical Psychologists are trained to identify triggers, fears, beliefs, and rationalisations or concerns that may be overlooked by other health professionals.

Clinical Psychologists work with children to help them cope with emotional issues, medical problems, bereavement, drug or alcohol abuse, bullying, learning difficulties,childhood sexual or physical abuse and the effects of divorce .. etc ..

How can I pay for my sessions?

Buckinghamshire Psychology accepts the following methods of payment : Cash, BACS, Paypal

What do I do if I an unhappy with my therapist or want to stop therapy?

Feel free to inform Buckinghamshire Psychology if you are unsatisfied with the therapy provided. We will be happy to refer you to another professional either within our group or another institution.

Buckinghamshire Psychology also reserves the right to terminate relationship with a patient at any time if required.

Why do I have to sign a consent form?

Consent forms need to be signed in order to ensure you are happy for the therapist to treat you. No treatment will commence without proper consent forms completed.
