Jodie Vernon

Counselling and Psychotherapist

Jodie Vernon

Jodie Vernon is an integrative child, teenage and adult therapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapists. Jodie achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 2000 and went on to work in Primary Education for 20 years.

Jodie’s experience began working with children in schools from the age of 5-11 using Play and Art therapy to help the children explore their feelings in a safe and familiar environment to help the child reach their full potential. She has worked with children who have had family members with mental illness, children who have experienced trauma, who have been fostered and children with ASD. Regulating emotions is something children often need help with if they have had trauma or attachment issues. This needs to be taught and shown so that they can learn to cope with their everyday life.

She has also worked with teenagers who are feeling the stresses and strains of the modern world. We are seeing more and more teenagers seeking therapy as they struggle with exam pressure, social pressures and social media.

Jodie’s work with adults is broad but she has specialised experience with drug and alcohol abuse and domestic abuse. Whether working with adults or children – Jodie’s approach is in the main, person-centred, keeping her client’s needs at the forefront and allowing them to be autonomous in sessions.

Don't just take our word for it

Jodie has been extremely warm and helpful when working with my child. She was able to connect and provide us guidance with our childs care. There has been such an improvement in behaviour.
