Clinical/Counselling Psychologists

Clinical/Counselling Psychologists help to improve emotional and social well-being.  They do not prescribe medications to treat mental illness. However, they are trained to treat more severe mental health issues.  They use psychological techniques, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychoanalytic therapy; along with multiple other approaches.

In order to call yourself a Chartered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist you must complete a Ph.D. in Psychology before being able to see patients and utilize these techniques.

In addition to the delivery of psychotherapy, Psychologists may undertake a variety of activities, including psychological testing, research, and teaching.
